Breaking Grass

Breaking Grass • Breaking Grass is a bluegrass band composed of 5 multi-talented guys from Northeast Mississippi.  They have been performing at churches, festivals, and community functions since 2007. The band has had the opportunity to perform with many of today’s top bluegrass and gospel artists and have quickly become audience favorites all over the Southeastern Region. In June 2010, they won the Leon Frazier Memorial Gospel Talent Search and recently were named the 2011 State of Mississippi Bluegrass Band Champions at the state-sanctioned competition held in New Albany, MS.

Breaking Grass
"Breaking Grass combines strong vocal harmonies with skilled instrumentation to create an exciting stage performance filled with traditional favorites as well as exceptionally written original material."

Breaking Grass released their eponymous debut during the summer of 2011.  The project was recorded and mixed in Nashville, TN at Dark Shadow Recording and features the songwriting of band leader Cody Farrar. Weaving though a range of songs from murder ballads and tales of love gone wrong to gospel tunes, Breaking Grass tells a story with each track… even throwing in a dash of humor on the final cut.

Breaking Grass
“Breaking Grass has found a sweet spot in its sound, heavy on bluegrass with just the right amount of country. This album proves Breaking Grass is worthy of its title, and the band has a bright future.” – Scene Now
